Proposition K.I.D.S. Bond 2026

Proposition K.I.D.S. represents Crawford County R‑II’s commitment to creating safer, more functional, and more efficient learning environments, all without increasing the current debt service tax rate. This no-tax-rate-increase bond issue focuses on essential upgrades that directly impact student safety, comfort, and the long‑term condition of district facilities.

A major component of the proposal is improving the high school’s front entrance for security purposes. By redesigning and reinforcing the entryway, the district aims to create a more controlled and secure check‑in process that better protects students, staff, and visitors.

The initiative also targets critical infrastructure in the middle school, including upgrading the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. These improvements will support healthier air quality, more consistent temperatures, and greater energy efficiency. The bond would support renovating existing restrooms and constructing additional ones, helping the facilities better meet the needs of students and staff.

At the elementary school, the proposition includes replacing the playground surface to ensure students have a safe, modern area for play and physical development.

Beyond safety and HVAC upgrades, Proposition K.I.D.S. prioritizes campus‑wide improvements. The district plans to overhaul existing parking lots by repairing, replacing, or paving them to create safer and more accessible spaces for the school community.

Additional upgrades include improving exterior lighting and masonry walls, which will enhance visibility, safety, and the structural integrity of district buildings.

Taken together, these projects reflect a forward‑thinking, fiscally responsible plan to maintain and enhance district facilities, supporting student safety, improving daily operations, and strengthening the learning environment for all.
